The Sistrikt
Hola friends! I've officially made it to the MTC, I got here on Thursday! And it's officially my first P-day in the Mexico MTC (the CCM)! To give you some context about the subject, one of our elders in our district couldn't come because he got sick, so then the other elder had to get transferred out because he needed a comp, so we are officially a district of all hermanas! Also in the welcome presentation they were going through the rules and it said "do not stik stikers" and we all thought the spelling was funny so the sistrikt was born!
Honestly though the CCM has been great! It's definitely hard and they expect a lot from us, especially our spanish, but it definitely helps me to keep practicing and keep learning! We have two classes a day and we like to ask our teachers about their dating lives because apparently there is a lot of dating between teachers here so we got our teacher talking about it for the first 30 minutes of class and it was great hahaha!
Also I LOVE my district! They are the most fun girls and we all get along so well and spend most of our study time just yapping and laughing so it's not the most productive but it's super fun! We are definitely some gringo sisters and our teacher likes to tell us hahah but esta bien! Oh and I have the cutest companion Hermana Lindstrom! She's my favorite and God knew what he was doing placing us together!
On Sundays in the CCM they don't tell you who is going to be speaking until sacrament meeting, so everyone has to prepare a talk in spanish. Also you usually don't have to give a talk on your first Sunday, however, my branch is pretty small. And I was one of the lucky ones who was told they would be speaking. But then my miracle came when a member of the MTC presidency unexpectedly came to our branch and wanted to speak! So yay I didn't have to speak this Sunday! But that also means I will most likely be speaking next week, but oh well we'll cross that bridge later hahah
Some highlights and quotes
- the tienda has dr pepper!
- "como se dice ditsy?"
- the dessert at the cafeteria is keeping me fed
- "I don't think I would get married after the second lesson"
- pickleball everyday for gym time
- Hermana Lepperts birthday!
- finding the hacks to make the samsung phone as apple as possible
- the presidents wife calling out all the elders during the opening devotional about their haircuts hahah
Anyway, it's been so so fun and even though the ccm is lowkey a glorified FSY hahah I'm loving it! I feel the spirit so strong every single day here and it has changed my life already! For my personal study yesterday I was reading in 3 Nephi when Jesus was visiting the Americas, and in one chapter it says "for I will go before them, saith the Father, and I will be their rearward" twice. I absolutely loved this because God and Jesus are at the front and back of us, they are leading us but also protecting and watching out for us. I love thinking about this and it brings me so much peace. I love my Savior and I have learned so much of Him in these few shorts days being here!
Love you all!
